Well we've been bust bees. We've had a stab at remixing One Day. The changes so far include:
1. Vocals were 'V-vocalled', VC-64 (usual preset) and EQ (usual settings). Also resorted to usual reverb and delay settings, with a touch of chorus on backing vocals.
2. Acoustic Guitar - Left mic panned hard left and right mic panned hard right. Then the clever bit. The right mic was nudged very slightly to delay it. This produces a really nice duo-guitar type effect. I also applied a high pass filter to take out somme of the bottom end boominess. A touch of reverb added for sparkle.
3. Bass - Guitar Rig and VC-64
4. Drums - VC-64 and a touch of reverb. I also notched a bit towards the top end to remove the hardness/tinny edge
5. Pad - high pass filter
6. Strings - added top end EQ to add a bit of air
7. Electric piano - not happy this is cutting quite right yet. I might fiddle a bit more before I post the mix to Box.
8. Mad guitar - nothing to do to this, except made it a bit more prominent - this is a genius guitar part. It still makes the hairs on the back of my neck stand up.
9. A bit of VC-64 on overall mix.
Just a few more tweaks to get the keyboards to sit right and I will post to Box, maybe later today.
Again, comments most welcome.
